Recently I just removed all four of my wisdom teeth because they all go sideways and need to be removed. Let me tell you that it hurts like hell when the anesthetic gone.

Anyway, what you should do after wisdom teeth removal.

First of all, take the medication from your doctor which usually are antibiotics and pain-killer.

One to three days after the removal you want to get a close care of your mouth. At this period your mouth still numbs and you don’t want to poke anything into the gum where the extraction took place. Don’t poke with your finger or your tongue, I know there something awkward going on in your mouth but hold your urge to poke it to prevent any infection.

What you going to eat is going to be tricky because you must eat food that is soft. You could eat porridge, soup, ice cream and fruit juice. If you only remove one tooth then you could eat with the other side of your mouth. During first day, when I first eat I only taste blood.

Your cheek is also going to swell so big that you’ll think that you been stung by a Bee in the cheek. Avoid smoking and alcohol during this time as it slows your healing progress.

Should you brush your teeth? For the first 24 hours don’t. The next day you can brush your teeth. I remember that opening my mouth is excruciating and I only manage to open a small gap between my teeth and enough for me to brush my teeth. You want to make sure that it doesn’t poke the area where the extraction took place. My advice is just to wash your mouth if you can’t get yourself to brush your teeth.

Four to seven days after wisdom teeth removal you should be get used to the pain already. By this time you should go to your doctor again to check the healing process of your teeth and to remove the stitches. Rumor has it that they use cat gut for the stitches.

If you still unused to the pain then you should ask for more pain-killer, like I did.

Brushing your teeth should be do-able by this time and you should clean it, but like always don’t poke that area.

what is normal time for swelling after wisdom teeth removal? The normal time for swelling after wisdom teeth removal is a week. For me, it has been a week and it still show a mild swelling. I could eat normally and no swelling after two weeks.

Kidney failure is a condition where the kidney can’t do its job. While kidney job mainly is to filter the blood and remove any waste product. It also control blood pressure and stimulate the production of red blood cells.

So if your kidney can’t do its job, can you die because of it?

Obviously you can die from kidney failure. Imagine all the waste your body produce, but you can’t get it out. It will affect your body. However, some people says that dead from kidney failure is not so bad. At least from pain point of view. When the waste accumulate in your body, your body would show a decrease in energy and you would be more and more sleepy than usual. You would also feel a bit change in your mental state as you will feel a bit anxiety or mild confusion. The waste that accumulates can also make your skin itchy. Your breathing pattern would change as you would have shorter and shorter breath. If you don’t urinate then the chances are you are going to die within one or two weeks and if you still produce urine then you could live longer. In the end your body seems to be heavier, you have less energy, you’ll loss your will to live and ultimately you’ll lose consciousness.

Of course that only happen when you reach stage 5 or Chronic kidney disease stage and you refuse to have dialysis. When you haven’t reach stage 5 then you shouldn’t be worried of death from kidney failure, yet…

In previous article we talk about caffein and liver, whether or not it is bad or good for the liver. It turn out that caffeine (mostly in coffee) is good for the liver. Now, let’s find out if caffeine and kidney has the same relationship.

Unfortunately, unlike caffeine and liver which has beneficial relationship. Caffeine can do bad and good things to the kidney.

Good Thing Caffeine Do To The Kidney:

There has been many studies that says caffeine in coffee can prevent cancer. One study support this, involving 800,000 people and followed up 7 to 20 years of study. People that drink coffee more than 2 cups per day has 16 percent less chance of developing kidney cancer.

Bad Thing Caffeine Do To The Kidney:

2004 study show that caffeine consumption can moderately increase the risk of developing kidney stone. Kidney stone is a solid mass that form from salt and minerals in the urine that stick together.

Imagine having that inside your kidney. Having kidney stone that size can cause severe pain in the groin, blood in urine, vomiting, reduced amount of excreted urine, sensation after urination that you haven’t get it all out, and burning sensation during urination.

Caffeine is also a diuretic substance that can make you urinate more than you usually do and thus dehydrate your body. Dehydration can lead to kidney failure and also kidney stone.

People with polycystic kidney disease should absolutely avoid caffeine as it could cause the disease to develop larger cyst.

I love coffee and I could drink up to 3 to 5 cup of coffee in a day. With that amount of coffee certainly the amount of caffeine my body took is quite high (I dislike decaf coffee). So I was wondering if caffeine is bad for your liver? I don’t want to wake up with broken liver just because of coffee.

Here’s what I found out about caffeine and liver:

Study suggest that caffeine can help the liver especially people who love to drink alcohol, overweight, or has too much iron in the blood. The study take 10,000 people as sample and found people that drink two or more coffee per day has less risk from developing liver disease.

Study from harvard also support that coffee reduce the risk of liver damage especially for those who are in high risk of developing liver disease. One study also suggest that caffeine prevent the spread of liver cancer cells.

So there’s nothing to worry about, it’s all good? Well, not quite…

Most the study above is for caffeine in coffee. A 2001 study show that coffee does has beneficial for the liver, but this is not true for other beverages containing caffeine.

Also one study found that mixing Acetaminophen (Paracetamol) with caffeine is bad for your liver. The paracetamol itself is not so good for the liver, but combine it with caffeine then it would have triple the havoc in the liver. One need to understand not to drink them together. Acetaminophen/Paracetamol is a pain killer common in over-the-counter drugs usually for headache.

You don’t want to wake up in your fifty and suddenly you realize that you have osteoporosis, that is why you need to stack your calcium supply since young. Osteoporosis is a serious matter. When you have osteoporosis you would have trouble walking, and your bone can easily break under small pressure like falling down from bed.

So is there a natural cure for osteoporosis? First of all we need to know how bad is your osteoporosis. If you are in your late forty and you have very low calcium then it would probably too late to find natural cure for you, you should take a medication for it (seriously). If you are still young or your bone density has not gone too brittle then here are some tips to cure osteoporosis.

Exercise

Exercise has to do with osteoporosis? Exercise can build and maintain the thickness of your bone. People that has osteoporosis should get a regular exercise. Wait, isn’t people that has osteoporosis has more risk for broken bone when exercising? Well, contrary to many believe this is not true. A well planned exercise can help people reduce that risk significantly.

So what kind of exercise that help with osteoporosis? You can do hiking, dancing, getting up and down stairs, jogging, tennis, yoga, power walking, swimming, and regular stretches.

Healthy and High Calcium Food

Yea so I just need to drink milk right? Not exactly. Even though it is true that milk has many calcium, but what people doesn’t know is that most of the calcium in it your body can’t absorb it. So the majority of calcium in milk would go wasted and excreted out. Milk also has high phosphorus which inhibit calcium absorption and bone metabolism.

If milk is ruled out for our calcium needs what else do we have? You should get your calcium need from soybeans, tofu, or soy milk. It would have less calcium than ordinary milk, but your body would absorb most of its calcium.

What else affect osteoporosis?

Coffee. Even though there are many benefits that coffee can offer, but its caffeine can absorb calcium.

Smoking. Affect bone metabolism which resulting in less dense bone.

Vitamin D and K. Vitamin D help the process of calcium absorption while vitamin K help bind the calcium to the bone.

African mango or also known with the name Irvingia Gabonensis is a fruit that is commonly found in African tropical forest. The fruit itself has its nutrition, but what fascinate the researcher most is its seeds.

So what are the benefits of Irvingia Gabonesis anyway?

One research in 2005 that study 40 people. 28 of them are given Irvingia Gabonesis seed and the rest are not given the seed extract. After one month the patient that are given Irvingia Gabonesis lose around 2% of their body weight. While those who are not given the seeds only lose 0.3% of their body weight. The patient that are given the seeds also shown a significant decrease in LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) and increase in HDL (the good cholesterol) meaning this african mango seeds is not only good for weight loss, but also good for cholesterol.

Another research in 2009 that study 102 healthy obese people. They divide them into two groups where one group are given the seeds while the other are not given. The result is the same with the research above as those who are given the seeds show significant weight loss and improve cholesterol level.

Research in the 1990 and another research in 1986 show that dikanut (Irvingia Gabonensis) can help people with diabetes. The patient show good result after 4 weeks being given dikanut.

So from those studies we can conclude that African Mango Seeds are good for weight Loss, and cholesterol Level. While the fruit is good for diabetes.

A runny nose can be quite a nuisance when it happen at the wrong time. When you have a big meeting or a date the stuffy nose can ruin those big day. Obviously medicine is the fastest way to cure this, but you probably has some bad experience with medicine or afraid of some of the side effects some medicine has. Whatever the reason, you want to know how to stop a runny nose without medicine.

Photo credited to: journeyguy

First, we need to know what caused your running nose. Is it an allergy or a viral cold?

If every time you get close to a cat or a cigarette you get a runny nose then its clear that the cause is an allergy. If this is the case all you need to do to is to avoid them.

It is not so simple to stop the nasal congestion if it is caused by a viral cold. In this case the runny nose can be a bit longer to cure as it needs time for your immune system to fight the viral cold and thus curing the stuffed nose.

So in a nutshell to stop a runny nose you need to avoid things that cause allergy or wait for your body to get better. Still, you want to stop that running nose as soon as possible right? So here are some tips that could help you:

Keep your neck warm by applying some ointment on it. From my experience I find this quite useful to relieve nasal congestion.

Use the pressure and massage method. How to do it: apply pressure the side of your nose 10 times (Imagine there is an awful smell and you want to hold you nose), then apply pressure at the corner of your eyes 10 times also(between the eyes and the nose), and lastly message the earlobe for round 10 seconds. Do this procedure four times or more and repeat after 10 minutes.

Use tissue and plug it in your nose until it dry.

Mix a bit of salt and water and then suck the water with your nose or tilt your head and pour the water to your nose and breathe deeply. It won’t be pleasant, but this will cleanse your nose.

What is epsom salt? Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate. Why is it called epsom? Epsom is the name of a city in England.

Not to be confused, epsom salt has very different compound with table salt. They only share the same name because the first person that found it looks at it and think it is similar to salt.

Epsom salt, what does it do? It claim that it can be used to remove excess hair oil, treat itchy skin, treat irregular heart beat, treat low blood magnesium, treat severe tetanus, treat eclampsia, relieve bruises, cramps, detoxification, remove hair spray, face cleaner, splinter remover, skin exfoliation, and soreness.

Does it work?

Epsom Salt Bath

According to Paul Ingraham, a science journalist. He said that epsom salt can be used for laxative, treat irregular heart rhythm, low blood magnesium, eclampsia, and severe tetanus but that’s it. There is little scientific proof that epsom salt can do detoxification or osmosis from epsom salt bath. He said that many people that believe epsom salt bath work not because of the salt, but because that’s how human mind work. People who start using epsom salt bath start to look for evidence that it work and when it show some benefits they would say it work. However, people use warm bath everyday and people get benefits from it even though people don’t realize it because they don’t look for evidence of benefits from warm baths.

Epsom Salt For Swollen Feet

It is said that epsom salt can reduce the swelling of a swollen feet. There is little scientific study that support this claim, but there is many people that believe epsom salt really work for swollen feet. I tried it myself once and it seems to relive my bruises I don’t know if it is because of the salt or is it just my body repair it itself.

How much epsom salt should I use for a swollen feet? And how many times a day? You can try 1/4 of a cup of epsom salt, put it in a warm water and put your feet in it. Soak for about 15 minutes twice a day.

1. Sleep Apnea

2. Sleep Walking

Just like the name, sleep walking is a condition where when you sleep you walk around or do certain activity. Most people think that sleep walking is about walking when sleeping, but in reality sleep walking is not limited to just sleep walking. They can cook, clean, drive, or even have sex.
