My Baby Ate Plastic – What Should I Do?
Baby loves to chew anything that they can get their hands on. Sometimes the stuff they ate is harmless, and sometimes it could be dangerous. You can’t lecture them because it is pointless to tell a baby not to chew or swallow things as it is their basic nature to do that. You should vigilantly watch your baby to prevent them from accidentally swallow things at least until 4 years of age.
The size of the plastic does matter. The bigger the size of the plastic it has more harming potential.
First – Make sure the baby doesn’t choke on the plastic. The dangerous part from accidentally eating a plastic is choking. The symptoms for choking are the baby crying, trouble breathing, noisy breathing, trouble swallowing, drooling, and loss of consciousness. Call for emergency when this happen.
If your baby doesn’t show any of those symptoms then it passed the first phase of danger. Still, it could stuck in your baby esophagus.

It’s a picture of an adult esophagus, the baby has shorter esophagus and that’s why it could stuck there. The symptoms when this happen are chest pain, unable to drink or swallow food, dribbling, and vomiting. The symptoms will show after couple of days after the accident.
If there is no symptoms at all then it safe from stuck which mean it goes to the digestion. Plastic is a non biodegradable product which mean your baby can’t digest it and so it should comes out in the poop intact. After two days to five days it should comes out.
If it doesn’t come out after a week then it still inside your baby. Ask for advice from a doctor when this happen.
