What Foods To Eat And Avoid When Having A Strep Throat
I am having difficulties swallowing anything these days due to strep throat that I been having and I realize that during the sick period I need to be careful with what I eat or drink. I don’t want to eat anything that could make my strep throat worse. It is hard to choose the food to eat, because all you want to eat is usually bad for your throat. Anyway, these are the foods that I compiled for you based on my experience on what to eat and what not to eat when you have the illness.
food to eat/drink:
- Chicken soup
- Tea w/ honey
- Water w/ honey
- Luo Han Guo
- Carrot ginger soup
- Wonton soups
- Hot lemonade
- Porridge
food to avoid:
- Ice cream
- Cold milk shakes
- Fried chicken
- Chocolate
- Pixie stick candy
- Pie
- Milk
(avoid anything cold, sweet, deep fried, and greasy food/drink)
Common Question:
Can I drink coffee when I have strep throat? Yes, you can drink coffee. I been a coffee addict and if I can’t drink coffee for a day I can go mad, so luckily its okay to drink.
Can I eat spicy food when I have strep throat? Believe it or not, I purposely eat spicy food during my illness and it burns in my throat. It feel different than the pain you have when you swallow cause you only feel burn and tingling in the throat but no pain. Some people believe that eating spicy foods can cure strep throat and some say it can only make it worse, but in my opinion it doesn’t make any better or worse it only cause burn feeling in your throat without the pain.
Some people might feel different with my list of foods and opinion, especially on the ice cream as there are many people that say ice cream is good for strep throat and it might be true, but for my case ice cream only make my strep throat worse.
