Sleep is a good way to rejuvenate your body after a long hours of work, but what happen if you sleep too much? Over these days, I over sleep my self from the usual 8 hours sleep to 12 hours sleep, so is this bad? What happen if we sleep too much anyway?

Well, according to researchers at the University of Birmingham School of Medicine, sleeping more than 8 hours per day is in risk of metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is the disturbance in your metabolism that can increase the chance you get obesity and/or diabetes. Obesity then would increase your risk of heart attack. So in a way, oversleep is bad for your heart.

Another research from University of California that study more than a million people show that those who sleep more than 8 hours per day die younger.

Another study from 9000 Americans, researcher found that people who sleep more than 9 hours per day has 50% higher chance to get diabetes than those who sleep only 7 hours per day.

Other than diabetes, obesity which lead to heart attack, too much sleep is also linked to headache, back pain, and depression.

Conclusion: Don’t sleep too much, it’s not good for your health. Sleep for 7 or 8 hours per day is the optimum number.
