Before writing this I jump to a cold shower first just to make sure what I felt is the same with what other people saying about the advantages of a cold shower.

Cold shower has been believe to be good for the body since old times. From samurai in Japan to spartan in Greek, both believe that cold water can make you strong, healthy, and powerful. In those time, hot shower is for the weak and can make even weaker if you use to it.

So what are the advantages of a cold shower?

  1. Ensure men fertility. Increase temperature in the men scrotum can lower the sperm count to half, if you take hot water it would affect your fertility. Now I know why those spartan and samurai think hot water is for the weak, it is weak because it could affect the chances of you to have offsprings.
  2. Decrease stress. Research has shown that cold shower could induce the brain blue spot which can spray hormone to fight the feeling of blue.
  3. Improve circulation. With cold shower the body goes to jump start which makes the blood goes to the organ much faster and thus improving the blood and the pump of O2 circulation. Why does this matter? Because by improving the circulation then you also decrease the risk of having a cardiovascular disease.
  4. Healthier skin and hair. Cold shower makes your pores closes and thus making your skin much more brighter and look healthier. Just like it closes the pores in the face it also close the scalp in the hair which make the hair much stronger and thus prevent hair loss.

Most people can’t stand to go straight to a cold shower and that is why they usually use hot water first and then gradually decrease the temperature until it is cold. It is a good idea, but what if there is hot water around? I never use warm then cold water method because it’s just not my kind of way and to save electricity for the water heater. So how do my body can get used to cold water without hot water?

I use the cold water on my hands and legs first, this will make your body to adjust to the cold water. After the hand and leg are used to the cold temperature then move to the hair and then the head and lastly the torso. It still make me jump from cold but not like it would  be if I jump straight to the cold water. It is rigid and slow and takes time but that’s how I roll. :)
