Video Games Side Effects

Right now video games has becoming more advanced and more people playing it more often, but does it harmful to play video games too much? I found out that there are negative and positive side effects of video games.
Negative side effects
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – Due to repetitive action (pressing button on joystick or mouse all day), hardcore video gamers could have this syndrome.
- Social isolation
- Research shows that playing video games that has violence and aggression, he’s at risk for increased aggressive behavior. In addition, some video games promote gender bias and irresponsible sexual behavior.
- Poor academic achievement
Positive side effects
- Research show that certain video games such as Tetris can help people with post traumatic stress disorder.
- Help with developing problem solving and logic
- Learn to manage resource and logistic for certain games such as Simcity.
- According to researchers at the University of Rochester, led by Daphne Bavelier, a cognitive scientist, games simulating stressful events such as those found in battle or action games could be a training tool for real-world situations. The study suggests that playing action video games primes the brain to make quick decisions. Video games can be used to train soldiers and surgeons.
- Developing reading and math skills.
