Many old folk tell you to eat many carrot to improve your eyesight… When you get a bad eyesight, you don’t need glasses, what you need is carrot and lots of it.

Kinda silly isn’t it? Well, when I was a teenage I fall to this one, I truly believe that carrot can cure my eye and there’s nothing to worry about because my eye can be fixed.

When I reach adulthood I realize that this is just a myth and my eyes doesn’t go from bad to good but from bad to worse. Seriously, who made this myth in the first place?

The story of the myth

First of all, eating carrot is healthy it got lots of vitamin in it and especially vitamin A, where deficiency of this vitamin can cause blur vision or even blindness, but this has nothing to do with the myth…

The myth started in the world war 2 where the British government is using radar for the first time to bomb the German city. The confused German were so confused because the British pilot can bomb the city in night and in dense smoke, and the British doesn’t want the German to find out about their latest gadget (radar) and so they spread rumor that they make the pilot to eat a lot of carrot and the carrot enhance their eyes.

Pretty cool story ey? But I know whose to blame now… Damn you…

So carrots can’t make up for the bad eyesight but can it give you night vision like in the picture?

I know this is insane, how can carrots give you night vision? Well as crazy as it sound, its true that carrots improve our vision in the dark. Carrots contain lots of Retinol which is also a part of vitamin A is proven to help you cope with the darkness, and make you more light sensitive. Making you able to see in the dark better… Now I know what happen to Riddick…  :)
