What Should You Avoid Doing During A Lightning Storm

Lightning always travel from the cloud to the ground through the easiest path, so it would always strike taller and more conductor material.

If lightning storm  happen and you are  at:

1. Home

This is the safest place to be when lightning storm strike, but there are some precaution that you should take notice:

You can get electrocuted from a phone or in the shower by a lighting strike to your house – This is confirmed by Mythbuster on Discovery Channel episode 30. Note that the shower and the telephone has an exposed drain and cable in open area.

Turning off your television and computer is a good move, you don’t want your TV and computer to be fried do you? Once I have my internet connection fried after being struck by lightning.

2. Car

In a car is the second safest place to be because the lightning even though it strike the car it won’t get to you. The worst scenario is the lightning strike the car and then the car die if this happen do go out, stay inside until the storm has passed.

3. Outside

If you are outside then you are in risk of  getting struck by lightning. You need to stay away from open field like golf course and also parking lots.  If you are playing golf when lightning storm happen then you need to stop and quickly find shelter. Lightning struck is most common for golfer because their golf rod act like a lightning rod.

Stop swimming and get away from the water because electricity travel in water.

Don’t carry umbrella, don’t play kites, and don’t stand under tall object such as tree or towers because if the lightning strike those tall object there is a chance that the lightning might jump to you.

The best thing is to find shelter such as house or a car.

You can also do the best body position to minimize the lightning strike damage:

Crouch down with your head between your knee and also stand on your tiptoe. ( I know this position is hard to do and also pretty tiring but if you happen on hiking trip this position could safe your life.)


Bodybuilding Stop Growth?

Back when I was a teenage I always thought this was true, because there are many of my friend who do body building has short height. I believe many of you reading this also believe this…

But the truth according to recent research (link below), body building doesn’t stop growth there are only three thing that can stop growth which is steroids, some supplement, and obviously poor nutrition. Before you start blaming body building as the cause of  short height, you should pay more attention to poor nutrition because the chances are it is the cause of poor growth.

Take a look at Shaquille O’Neal or Davin Robinson where they start body building in early age but they doesn’t have any problem with height. So bodybuilding stop growth? This is just a myth…

We Use Only 10% Of Our Brain?

You heard this story right?

This myth is so laughable but many people believe it, people tend to believe anything that is good for them. If we use only 10% of our brain that mean there is a lot of potential in you that is unlock, well too bad its just a myth. We use 100% of our brain all the time!

The origin of the myth it self is unknown, but its originated from the early 19th. People at that times doesn’t have the time and resource to test the truth about this myth and thus the myth spread until this very day.

Imagine if we only use 10% of our brain, it is the equivalent with a brain sheep. We can only mbaa mbaa and eat grass… are you seriously want to be considered the same as sheep? I think not.

So is there any truth in this myth? Well if we are resting and not thinking of anything it might use only 10%.

So next time anyone tell you that we only use 10% of our brain, you know that its not true.


Calcium Can Make You Life Longer?

Yup… You heard it right alright…

Many people know that calcium is the thing that makes your bone structure strong, and cancel the effect of osteoporosis.

But do you know that recent Swedish researchers  show that people who eat more calcium in food were 25% less likely to die in the next decade than their peers who take less calcium in food.

The recommended calcium you take daily for 19-50 year old is about 1000 mg and for those aged more than 50 should take about 1200 mg per day.


Milk Cause Cancer

This is not a myth or some mumbo jumbo advice, it is based on actual research by Harvard Medical School that show people who eat dairy product have a 30 percent greater chance of suffering prostate cancer than those who eat less than half a serving per day.

Terrible as it seem but a recent research also shows that a higher intake of calcium (which is found in diary products) can protect against bowel cancer.

Milk is a dilemma, in one case it can increase the risk of getting prostate cancer but in other hand it also protect you against bowel cancer.

O Shit, so what should I do? Isn’t milk suppose to be healthy?

Of course milk is healthy but milk is also too overrated by the media, anything that is more than you should take is always bad as you can see  from the research that those who eat dairy product more can lead to harm. My advice is not to be afraid to drink milk or eat dairy product but remember to limit the consumption.


Changing Sleep Patterns

Either you want to sleep early or you want to sleep late, there is a way to make sleep patterns easier to change.

So lately I been sleeping at 2:00 a.m everyday, I know that it has quite taking some productivity time in the morning and I want to change that… But somehow I can’t sleep early, every time I want to sleep at 10:00 p.m I had too many energy and just couldn’t sleep. So how can I change my sleeping pattern?

So I do some research and also some experiment on my own, I realize that people is too fixated at the eight hour sleep. People always think that if they want to wake up at 5:00 a.m then you need to sleep at least from 9:00 p.m but this is where things goes wrong. You see we as a person always have energy in a day and if don’t drain that energy then you couldn’t sleep, its easy as that.

So the best way to deal with this is not when you want to sleep but when you want to wake up, in my case I want to wake up at 5:00 am then that is what I do regardless what time I sleep either it is 2:00 a.m or 10:00 p.m, I wake up in the time I want to be up. Surprisingly this work, every single night I don’t sleep at fixated hour but I wake up at fix time and I don’t feel sleepy at all during the day.

In the night, I only sleep when I was sleepy because when I was sleepy then that mean my energy juice is gone and that is the time to go to bed.

Changing sleep patterns is easy to change when you not focusing on how many hour you need to sleep but focusing on what time you want to wake up.


Soda Burst Motivation

Have you ever so motivated to do stuff at the beginning and then slowly you getting bored and bored until you don’t have the motivation to do it? The soda burst motivation is common and its not something that you should worry about because…

First of all, motivation comes in waves. There is no man in the world that can keep motivated all the time, there is always a point where things seem so pointless. But no worry because motivation can always come back, because motivation comes in waves.

So when things seem pointless and you don’t have the motivation as you used to then take the time off but don’t give up the dream. The key to succeed is riding the motivation waves, when your motivation is riding high then you should be working full time because this is where your productivity lies… When your motivation is low then wait for the waves to come again and I’ll assure you that it will come again…


Lasik Surgery, Good or Bad?

The medical wonder of the 21th century is so many and LASIK is one of them and it is common now days that many people do LASIK surgery. Why many people trust it is safe? Because it is F.D.A. approved… but is it enough?

LASIK is a surgical procedure that uses a laser to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and/or astigmatism. It is also irreversible. The industry marketer always said that LASIK is perfectly safe, but is it?

Let’s review the fact that LASIK is still a new technology, it first appear in 1998, booming in 1999, and the first people who has trouble after LASIK surgery appear in 2002,  and the debate wheter LASIK surgery is good and bad is still going on until this very day.

The good thing about LASIK surgery is that people can see better again and the F.D.A. and industry representatives agreed that 95 percent of patients are satisfied with the procedure. But the percentage is based on 10 years research only, more long term risk is still unknown.

The bad thing about LASIK surgery is various and you can check the people who had bad LASIK surgery, and they said that there are many risk in LASIK surgery that the industry doesn’t want to tell you. When LASIK surgery gone wrong the effect can be vary from blur, ghosting, glare, halos, loss of contrast, and also starbursting. You can check the sample picture in their website.

Now I’m not going to say you should or should not do LASIK surgery but just telling you the fact that LASIK surgery is still new and its probably not as safe as many people talk about. In my opinion if you doesn’t have any problem using glasses then you don’t need to do it.


All About Shampoo

Shampoo, many people don’t realize or don’t care that you don’t need to pour  many shampoo to clean your hair. Yea so you have long hair but do you know how much is needed to clean long hair? Its no more than a tablespoon, if your hair is short then you should use less than that.

Expert also said that you should use shampoo only two or three times a week. So what happen when you wash too many times? well it could strips the hair of beneficial oil (called sebum) and can damage our locks.

Many people also link shampoo with hair loss, so is this true? I would say that this depend on the shampoo your using, if you’re using hardcore shampoo that use many Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) then it might causing hair loss. But in general, shampoo doesn’t cause hair loss, so this is just a myth.


Why Salt is Bad?

Salt has two element, sodium and chloride. The sodium is where people think its bad for your health. Now first of all, sodium is generally not bad because we need sodium to balance the water in our bodies. Like everything else we need things in moderation, if over consumption things goes bad. Well its easy then right? Well not that simple…

You see our body only should consume 2400 mg sodium a day which is one tablespoon of salt. But regularly our food contain much more than that, even one burger contain more than 2400 mg sodium. In every fast food or even frozen dinner contain at least 1000 mg of sodium. So its gonna be hard to do what those health expert say we need to do, the best way to limit the consumption of sodium is to cook your own meal, and cook it fresh.

What happen if you consume sodium more than you should?

Well, the effect isn’t going to happen now. But it will stack up and would make your blood pressure going up through the roof and before you know it… you are in deep worry of  heart attack just because the young you want to enjoy life and eat to many salted food.
